Frank Herbert
Frank Herbert nasceu em Tacoma, Washington, e estudou na Universidade de Washington, Seattle. Teve uma grande variedade de empregos — incluindo operador de câmara de TV, comentador de rádio, apanhador de ostras, instrutor de sobrevivência na selva, psicanalista, professor de escrita criativa, repórter e editor de vários jornais da Costa Oeste dos EUA… antes de se tornar escritor a tempo inteiro. Em 1952, Herbert começou a publicar ficção científica com “Looking for Something?” na revista Startling Stories. Mas o seu verdadeiro aparecimento como escritor de primeira importância só aconteceu em 1965, com a publicação de Duna. Seguiram-se Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune e Chapterhouse: Dune, completando a saga a que o Chicago Tribune chamaria “um dos monumentos da moderna ficção científica”. Herbert também é autor de cerca de vinte outros livros, incluindo The Jesus Incident, The Dosadi Experiment e Destination: Void. Morreu em 1986. |
